This coming Sunday, January 4, will be a day not to miss at Emmanuel. I look forward to seeing you there ! It will be the start of an important year in Emmanuel’s history, and all who love Emmanuel as a special church home will want to be part of it.
The day will unfold in several parts :
Adult & Children’s Pre-Worship Classes, 9:00
A new class is starting for children, ages 6-12, at 9:00. Called “God, What’s Your Name ?” it’s a secret mission to discover who God is. Lisa Horstmann has more information if you have questions.
For adults, David Kiser will continue the study in the Book of Acts. All adults are welcome to join that group. In addition, during Sundays in January, I will be teaching the 101 adult course, “Discovering Christ & the Church.” Would love to have you be a part of that if you haven’t taken the 101 course previously.
Worship, 10:15
We will have a special time of worship, a Concert of Prayer. One of the most important things we can do as a church – especially during this upcoming year of transition – is to pray. God delights in prayer and honors it ! We will dedicate the new year of ministry to the Lord by praying. Join us – good singing, worship, and prayer, starting at 10:15.
Congregational Meeting, following worship
There will be a congregational meeting immediately after worship. All are welcome to attend, and we especially need you to stay if you are a voting member at Emmanuel. The following items make up the main part of the agenda :
election of new church officers for 2015
vote on proposed church by-laws changes
an update on the Pastoral Search Committee process.
Volunteer Appreciation Banquet
Please stay, then, after the conclusion of the meeting, for a catered meal during which we will recognize all God’s servants at Emmanuel for the work He did through you in 2014 ! You don’t have to carry in anything for the meal ; this is for everyone who makes up the Emmanuel family ! Thank you !
“How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?” (1 Thessalonians 3:9)
I hope to see you Sunday for a day of encouragement and strengthening of our faith together for the new year.
May God bless His Church as we finish out the old year and start a new one. I send you greetings and best wishes for the new year from the Evangelical Free Church of St Genis-Laval, France, where Diana and I served several years ago.
